Show Sat/Sun/Mon/Tues, June 18-21, 2011 C-5 The Park Record Continued from C-4 ANSWERS FOR TODAY Walking tours ;-'r*"One interesting thing that has come out of the tours is the fact that people will open up and talk about their own towns' histories," she said. "I think it's a great way to relate with others about their town. It's also a great way for those who are from Park City to brush up on their own history." In addition to seeing the buildings up close, the tour features a number of historic photographs. "We do this because some of the buildings are gone," Purdy said. "I had mentioned the TMI earlier and on the spot it's standing on, there was a mercantile store and other structures. So we have photographs of that as well, to kind of give the tour a fullness." Tour groups usually cap at 15, but there have been some groups that number up to 30. " "We used three docents at that time to lead the group, because we like to keep the group manageable, so everyone can have 'a chance to talk and ask questions." No reservations are • needed for individuals, Purdy said. "We do suggest reservations for groups larger than seven people," she said. "Sometimes we look into the opportunity to provide a.special tour at a different .time if there is a large enough group." As the Park City Museum's curator for education, Purdy said there is nothing like seeing a tourist or Parkite take part of a tour. "My favorite part of the job, and it just doesn't stop at the walking tours, is to see people interact with history and make connections," she said. "It's a fun program."
