In a resolution that marked his departure from the panel, the elected officials honored his preservation work and his institutional knowledge of Old Town. It also named Kimball Park City's official historian. According to the resolution, Kimball served on the Historic Preservation Board and its predecessor, the Historic District Commission, for six years. It also says Kimball has vast knowledge of the significant historic buildings in the city, including some that have been destroyed over the years, and he "successfully protected" more shacks from Park City's silver-mining heyday decades ago than any other person.
