Scholar regional competition for music (playing the same song Ivy did in 1998). In addition, Ben managed a 3.9 GPA with several challenging AP courses. Their parents have put in over a decade of lime and a lot of money to provide a wonderful opportunity for their children to graduate from Park City High School. It was a labor of love, and a remarkable achievement for the Portwood family. Now to getting all of those children selfsufficient so two tired parents can retire to a beach somewhere far away...! Where are they now? • Ivy: Working for Dell, Inc. in Austin, Texas after graduating from BYU with her MBA • Ryan: Just finished his first year of law school at Thomas Cooley in Michigan • Robert: Earning his master's degree in hospital administration at the University of Minnesota • Richard: VP of the student body at Utah Valley University studying business management • Katie: Senior-to-be in nutrition at the University of Utah: doing internship in Eastern Europe • Ben: Headed to BYU next fall • Karen (Mom) Portwood: local piano teacher, daily Park City walker (Park Meadows), Silver Mountain Sports Club yoga enthusiast and in-house healthy chef • Dan (Dad) Portwood: Park City's biggest sports fan (there's no way you've missed him - seriously) 2009 Summer Lunch Program Mon.-Sat. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Park City School District and Youth ACT (Agencies Coming Together) invite you to the 2009 Summer Lunch Program at McPolin Elementray School (2270 Kearns Blvd.). The program runs Monday through Thursday, June 15 r * Restoration Appraisal Padding, Pick-up & Delivery Buy/Trade Old Rugs * Hand Cleaning Most parents are delighted to graduate one child from a school like Park City High School, but on June 12, 2009, proud Park City residents and Chicago natives Dan and Karen Portwood will graduate child number six. No joke. It's hard for most of us to fathom parenting that many kids, but these two made it look less like work and more like a privilege. In 1995, the Portwood family settled in Park City after years of moving all over the continental United States. They chose the town mostly for the great education. Ivy, the eldest, graduated three years later as regional Sterling Scholar for music and head of the National Honor Society. From the year 2000 until 2006 (in two-year increments), Ryan, Robert, Richard, and Katie Portwood graduated from Park City High School with honors and letters in nearly every sports team at the high school (including several winning teams). You've likely seen the last (but obviously not least) of the Portwood clan. He's graced newspaper photos for his soccer and football prowess. He was a member and captain of the PCHS boys' soccer team that look state in 2008 and 2009 and member of the National High School Athletic Association. He took first place in the recent Sterling through July 30. Lunch will be served from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., followed by activities from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Lunch is free'to those 18 and under and $2.50 for adults (after children have been served).
