The visiting players attend several 4A high schools in the Provo/Orem area, and play for a blended team representing the county. In the early game, the Park City girls showed strength and potential for a terrific season. Returning starters Samantha Case, Jackie Sitko, Hannah Kinnebrew and Ashley Loyens played weJl in the 9-8 loss. The boys' team picked up right where they left off last May, hammering UCO by the final score of 17-9. Matt Jones gave the Miners their first lead after only 16 seconds of play, and Park City never looked back. The Miners cruised through the opening period, leading 4-1 after the first seven minutes. Coach Larry Jackson played his junior varsity squad and several first-year players for the entire second quarter. Wes Smith, Austen Archibald, and Will Yarbenet played like veterans, and Park City led 7-4 at the half. Jackson went back to his varsity starters to open the third period, extending the lead to 13-5. For the game. Griffin Pool and senior Nick Johnson led all scorers with four goals each. Jones ended with three, while Shaun Livingston and Briggs Lyman each added a pair of goals. Park City was scheduled to host 4A East High School at home Tuesday night, March 4. The teams then get a week to prepare for perennial powerhouse Murray High School, who they will play in Salt Lake City on Tuesday afternoon, March 11. 3 1 0 3 1 0 2 2 0 2 2 0 SEND YOUR SCONES!
