Free State Parks Day In conjunction with National Public Lands Day, Utah State Parks and Recreation offers Free State Parks Day Saturday, September 24. Day-use fees will be waived at all Utah state parks. "Free State Parks Day is our way of thanking visitors for their patronage and support, and encouraging them to visit a park they haven't seen before," said Utah State Parks Director Mary Tullius. "This is also a community appreciation day for those communities that have adopted their local state park." Several parks host special events Saturday, September 24: Antelope Island State Park: Volunteer to help with the Bridger Bay campground renovation from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., then enjoy a barbequc. Rockport State Park: Park staff hosts an open house for the Old Church, located below Wanship Dam from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a barbeque and old time music by the bluegrass band Summit County Line. To RSVP or for more information, please call (435) 336-2241. While day-use fees will be waived, overnight camping and golf fees still apply. Also, day-use fees at This Is The Place Heritage Park are not waived due to private/public management of that park.
