Show C-5 The Park Record Wed/Thurs/Fri, May 25-27, 2005 Jazz Festival tickets are on sale now Tix available through jazz Foundation, Eccles Center, t)V Summer is just around the corner and the folks from the Park City Jazz Foundation have a reminder. Tickets for the 2005 Fidelity Investments Park Cily Jazz Festival, which will be held August 26-28 at Deer Valley Resorts Snow Park Amphitheater, are now on sale. The tickets, which are $45 per day, are available though ArtTix, the Jazz Foundation website, Uie Eccles Center box office and Deer Valley Signatures stores. For group and package prices call the Jazz Foundation. This year's festival will feature an expanded scope with a wider range of jazz artists, including among many others, Taj Mahal, Poncho Sanchez, George Benson and "Trio," featuring Bela Fleck, Stanley Clarke and JeanLuc Ponty. "Our goal was to attract the broadest audience possible with really big names while exposing the community to some great artists they may not be aware of." said Kris Severson, executive director of the Park City Jazz Foundation. In a conversation with The Park Record, Severson also noted that the festival is working on expanding its list of sponsors and partners in an effort to reach a greater audience. "I think we're going to have a little more interest and heat than in the past," said Severson. He said the festival has added mega-concert promoter and radio station conglomerate Clearchannel to the Jazz Festivals list of sponsors, along with Channel 2, KUTV in Salt Lake Cily. He also noted that Michelob will sponsor the festivals expanded second stage, and there will be plenty of other, smaller vendors. "The festival village seems to be growing quite a bit," Severson said. Aside from the Jazz Festival, Severson said the organization will keep a fairly low profile this summer, with the exception of a few events. The organization's other activities will include its ongoing partnership with the Kimball Art Center for Jazz Night at the KJmball, its collaboration with the Park City Performing Arts Foundation for the Park City Food and Wine Classic, and, said Severson, "We will definitely be present at the [Kimball] Arts Festival."
