Show Kaoses celebrate 50th 1 .... . iV m a' I John and Ruby Kaas will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. an-niversary. The couple was married May 24, 1941 in Salt Lake City. They now reside in Camelot in North Nor-th Salt Lake, where they have lived for almost two years. They previously lived in Salt Lake City. John Stanley Kaas was bom in Blackfcot, Idaho to John Edward Peter and Ellen Ann Stanley Kaas. He attended high school at White Pine County in Ely, Nev. He served in the army's Seventh Infantry Division, Company F in Okinawa and in the Philippines during World War 0. He earned a Purple Heart and an Oakleaf Cluster. After the war, John worked for Kennecott Copper in McGUl, Nev.t as a heavy equipment operator for 14 years. Moving to Salt Lake, he worked for HatchCo as a diesel mechanic for nine years, Major Oil MR. AND MRS. JOHN KAAS Woolley on Saturday, May 18 so the family can honor John and Ruby on their 50th anniversary. for one year, then Safeway from 1971 until his retirement in 1982. He enjoys working in his shop making mak-ing crafts for family and friends, gardening and reading. Ruby was bom in Salt Lake City ; to Caphus Jeff Smith and Mary ; Steward Groves, the youngest of 1 nine children. She graduated from West High in 1939 and went to work for LDS Hospital Nursing ; Home. She worked for one and one-half one-half years before getting married and moving to McGill, Nev. Ruby retired from Thornton Plastics in Salt Lake City last September, after working there for '. 27 years as office manager. She ; loves reading, gardening, cooking and keeping in touch with her five boys and their families. ! Their children include: Jim and ; Marlene, Evanston, Wyo.; Les and Janet, Bountiful; Stan and Chris, ', Bennion; Jeff, Denver, Colo.; ; Sherrie and boys, Lakewood, Colo.; j Merl and Shelly, HoUaday; 16 I grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. - A Hawaiian luau will be hosted - by Les and Janet, Shelly and Shane I Atkin, and Kristi and Kelsey |
