Over the past five years, prospective pro-spective Eagle Scouts from the Kaysville area have refurbished the VITA course and replaced damaged signs and equipment. Except for some problems with the quality of the trail, today the course is in good shape. Vance Garfield, director of Kaysville City Parks and Recreation, Recrea-tion, encourages as many people as possible to use the course. "Through use, we can cut down on vandalism," Garfield said. Because the course is close to the rifle range, the signs posted at each station are good targets for shooters who can't travel just a few feet further to use the appropriate ap-propriate targets that are on the rifle range. Walking the course takes about 20 minutes if you don't hurry. If you choose to stop at each station and complete all the exercises, this can be accomplished ac-complished in a little over an hour. There is no charge to use the VITA trail. No arrangements need to be made prior to starting out on the trail Bv DON ETA GATHERUM Staff Writer KAYSVILLE The best family fitness trail is located north nor-th of the Davis County Animal Control headquarters and just west of the Davis County Rifle Range. This is a VITA exercise course, operated by the Kaysville City Recreation Department. Exercise Ex-ercise courses of this type are found throughout the United States, but this is the only one in Davis County. Along a Yi -mile trail that is an ideal walking or jogging course, are 20 "stations." Each stop consists of a physical exercise challenge of some sort. The activities ac-tivities range from balance beams to parallel bars to rings for pull-ups. pull-ups. The difficulty of the exercises exer-cises varies. A sign at each station suggests the number of time: the activity should be completed com-pleted for a novice and an advanced ad-vanced fitness expert. The stations are arranged in a random. The sand pit is just one of 20 "exercise stations" along the way of the Kaysville Family Fitness Trail. Each station is marked with a suggested exercise and a suggested number of repetitions for each activity. Hikers who complete the entire routine will be finished in about one hour.
