Show New off-highway plan unveiled The Bureau of Land Management Manage-ment (BLM), Salt Lake District, has unveiled a new Off-Highway Vehicle Vehi-cle (OHV) use plan for Tooele and Utah and Salt Lake Counties. Last year, the BLM initiated a revision of OHV designations, addressing issues and concerns identified at several public meetings. The draft environmental assessment (EA) is now complete. The preferred alternative alter-native reflects the views and concerns con-cerns heard in earlier public meetings. Organized events, such as motorcycle, 4x4 and all-terrain vehicle events, are more restricted by the proposed designations. Public participation continues to be a key factor in the planning process. pro-cess. Comments on the plan and environmental assessment may be submitted between Jan. 19 and Feb. 17. In addition, four public meetings have been scheduled where the plan may be reviewed and comments submitted. Jan. 23, Payson City council Chambers, 439 W. Utah Avenue, Payson. Jan. 24, Tooele County Courthouse, Court-house, South Auditorium, 47 S. Main, Tooele. All meetings will be open to the public from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. A final decision on OHV designations designa-tions will be made after all comments com-ments have been analyzed. A final OHV map showing open, limited, and closed areas will be printed and available to the public free of charge. In addition, there will be public scoping meeting on a proposed Bonneville Salt Flats withdrawal preceding the OHV meeting. Everyone interested in the Salt Flats are invited to the above meetings from 7 to 7:15 p.m. |
