Show NSL puts RDA plans on hold By JUDY JENSEN Editor NORTH SALT LAKE Plans for a Redevelopment Agency (RDA) in the city have been put on hold. The City Council recently voted unanimously to delay any further action on the proposed projects for one year. A study which encompassed two possible RDA sites, one at approx imately 100 S. Orchard Drive, and the other near 240 E. 1100 N.t has shown that any action at this time may be premature. Mayor Jake Simmons told the council that Richard Chong, who had been hired by the city to study the feasibility of the proposals, had advised him that the possibility of a successful project is doubtful at this time. "I sent several letters to de- i velopers, and those who have responded are not interested at this time,' said Simmons. He added that Chong has suggested the Orchard Or-chard Drive development could in the future include the Gibbons and Reed gravel pit in North Salt Lake. ' ' If that could be a part of it down the road, it would be a lot more attractive at-tractive to a developer, ' said Simmons. The council agreed to study the proposals again in October 1991. |
