The committee also lists the following criteria for University president: To be an educator the person appointed to the presidency must have a full grasp of the meaning of higher education and the purposes of a university. He must appreciate the value of intellectual freedom. He should be capable of preserving the humane qualities of the University. The President should be a person of genuine intellectual and cultural attainment who knows the meaning of a high quality university education. His intellectual abilities must inspire the confidence of trustees, faculty, students and public. He needs qualities such as capacity to make difficult decisions, openness to criticism and suggestion, creativity, love of knowledge, and compassion for human beings. Determines direction The president of a university is an funds. Alumni may donate more or less according to his relationship to them. The University needs a president who has demonstrated a capacity to function in an important administrative ad-ministrative post. Above all, he must possess the capabilities of a leader who can discern the University's problems and has the courage to take the necessary actions to solve them. The president should be in good mental and physical health and his age should allow him time for real accomplishment in office. The president of a university is an educational leader.
