The opener featured the fine live narration of Gene Wianco and his colorful film, "Yugoslavia and the Slavic Race." In spite of technical and artistic shortcomings; a shaky projecter, and an absence of soundtrack to hear, as well as see the country, the film was a success. It was a pleasant surprise to discover dis-cover that there is more to Slavic areas of the world than upper and lower Slobovia, of comic book fame. Mr. Wianko's colorful and careful camera, carried the audience audi-ence through two hours of breathtaking breath-taking scenery, beginning in the state of Macedonia in the southern end of the country, then up the Adriatic coastline to the far north region of Slovenia. Throughout his narration, Mr. Wianko commented on the state of everything, from politics to favorite footwear. Mr. Wianco game more attention to the older towns and cities of Yugoslavia than to the few new and modern ones. |
