Show Smoking regulations ignored or flaunted Three years ago, President Emery, then acting as Provost, issued a memorandum to the faculty concerning the smoking regulations on campus. The memorandum included two restrictions. The first of these was "in those areas in which, in the judgment of the fire marshal, smoking would constitute a serious fire hazard." The other restriction prohibited smoking in classrooms auditori ums and similar areas. Despite the memorandum from the Provost, the smoking continued con-tinued and does still. As of yet nothing has been done. But it is foreseeable that if in the future the smoking regulations are not adhered to, a stricter policy will take over, perhaps banning all smoking from the campus grounds. The sign posted on the chalk-board chalk-board reads NO SMOKING. |
