Show Senator slates U appearance Sen. John Varick Tunney, D-Calif., will be on campus Friday for a major address, press conference, political workshop and Coffee and Politics forum. His visit as a politician-in-residence is sponsored by the Hinckley Institute of Politics. Sen. Tunney has been in Congress since 1964, and was elected to the Senate in 1970 by defeating incumbent George Murphy. In his campaign for the Senate, Sen. Tunney used the freewheeling free-wheeling style of the Kennedys and played on the Kennedy image. He was Ted Kennedy's roommate at the University of Virginia Law School, |
