Show Not impressed Editor: Hail to the press! The glorius free press, which espouses the cause of man's right to free speech, no matter what his ideology! Freedom of speech for whom? For The Press and for you IF you buy your own newspaper corporation. Everybody has a right to express their opinion if they own a newspaper corporation! The Salt Lake Tribune refused three times (so far) to print a letter I sent to the Readers Forum (observing (ob-serving all rules). More than three weeks have elapsed since they "lost" the first one and a week since they "lost" the second one. The third has been in their office for three days with a 'PLEASE' marked on it. What was the super-important subject they wished to suppress? A letter expressing my respect and admiration for the outstanding integrity and dedication to the well-being of his fellow men shown by Steve Holbrook. I guess they don't even believe elections should be subject to free expression ex-pression of opinion. I'm angry at 'injustice in whatever form, whether it affectsVie or affects you. Norma C. Larsen Commie plot Editor: We have read with interest the letters and articles concerning Joseph McCarthy and his memorial fund. There seems to be a major problem among the students here none of them can recognize the truth. To us it is clear. We know with certainty that Joseph McCarthy was a communist and was among the greatest contributors to their cause. Let's look at the facts. It was pointed out in one of the previous letters that many of the men McCarthy accused now hold high positions in our national government. How did those men get there? It was our fault. We all felt sorry for them because they were victims of McCarthy's reactionary indictments and we allowed them to continue on their ways vindicated by our shame. Oh, what a brilliant psychologist this McCarthy was! By his tyrannous acts in his investigations he led us all into a feeling of shame for him and for our country. From that shame arose our willingness to forgive the accused men when forgiveness was not warranted. These men are indeed communists and because of McCarthy's ingenious reverse psychological engineering we have allowed them to invade the highest echelons of our government. We are all to blame for this. We did not recognize McCarthy's true colors. He was a communist and has committed a most dastardly, back-handed crime against the freedom-loving people of this country. Jim Poulton : Hardin Davis Piano mania Dear Editor: I've grown accustomed, over the years to gross ignorance on the part of your writers when they cover musical events For people who aspire to be reporters, they are foT1" 't! in, checking n basic in" ormation The lastest example: today's story on Alan Ball. Yes, he will appear with the symphony in January, but it wouldn't really have taken a Horace Greeley to find out that only one of the works you mentioned is for piano and orchestra! Mr. Ball can hardly play piano solo parts in the Schubert symphony or Sibelius' Swan of Tuonela, since there aren't any. And it's Prokofieff; your writer doesn't know the accepted spelling, evidently. Karen Bryan Whatever Editor: Congratulations to all University students who exercised their right to vote Nov. 2. They have proven to be conscientious citizens by voting, regardless of the outcome of the election. Mike Brough Chairman, Youth for Cam Freebees Editor: Mr. Nevin Limburg in the letter publish Nov. 1 hasproposed a concept that sounds strangely rational in the age of the irrational. The concept as I assume Mr. Limberg's letter implies would allow the readers of The Chronicle the privilage of paying a nickle to read the latest in campus news and campus views. If there were only 3,000 Chronicles printed each day and placed for public sale rather than 15,000 plus giveaways, would there be screams for a second two star edition? Or perchance would the bulk of the 3,000 papers await perusal by Utah!" readers the seagull obviously ins some food for thought.
