O'Keefe, general manager of the Utah Copper Division of Kennecott Copper Corp., will receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree in recognition of his outstanding community service, particularly parti-cularly his personal efforts to increase opportunities for the disadvantaged and promote needed social action programs. The prominent Utah mining executive has been active in business and community projects dealing with improving minority and underprivileged people for the past decade. In 1969, President Richard M. Nixon appointed ap-pointed Mr. O'Keefe metropolitan chairman chair-man for the National Alliance of Businessmen Business-men (JOBS) in Utah, a position he still holds in directing a program to find jobs for the disadvantaged in the state. Mr. O'Keefe will receive his honorary degree Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. during dedication ceremonies of the new College of Mines and Mineral Industries Bldg. |
