Show Exec Council waives gpa rule Executive Council of the Associ-ated Associ-ated Students of the University of Utah (ASUU) Thursday waived the 2.0 grade point average requirement re-quirement for two students running run-ning in the ASUU elections. The ASUU constitution states that a student must have a 2.0 g.p.a. in order to run for a ASUU office. This, however, may be waived "in cases where it 'is in the best interest of the student andor the studentbody." Pete Dixon, member of the campus affairs board and the eligibility eli-gibility committee for elections, said that his investigation showed that Randy Buchmiller and Max Goff were both eligible when they filed as candidates, but after completing com-pleting winter quarter their g.p.a. fell below the 2.0 requirement. AWS elections and the naming of the Sports and Special Events Center will be placed on the ASUU final elections ballot, by a unanimous unani-mous vote of the Council. Dixon said students will be given giv-en the opportunity on this year's ballot to write names they would like to have the Center called. The manner of selection of the final name was not announced. The Council voted to approve the Campus Parking Report, which will be submitted to Faculty Coun. ell next week. Dixon said some of the items included in-cluded in the report are gradual building of structured parking with the cost extending over a period of years, a set parking fee for students and faculty. |
