Dean Gordon also said that the college dean could not approve or disapprove a withdrawal. He said the signature merely confirms that the student has had an interview with his dean. "The interview is an opportunity for the dean and the student to exchange information informa-tion about the class and to con sider any other options that might be available. All withdrawals made between now and the end of the quarter will be graded "WP" or "WF." A "WP" grade does not affect a students stu-dents grade point average (CPA), but a "WF" indicates that the student stu-dent was failing the class at the time of withdrawal and is figured in the CPA as if it were a failure. Dr. Oakley J. Gordon, dean of General Education and Academic Counseling, recently clarified withdrawal procedures from classes after the first six weeks. He said the correct procedure is as follows: First, the student should pick up a "Request for Change of Registration" card from the registrar's office. Second, if the student is a first or second quarter freshman, he should obtain the signature of his faculty advisor. Third, all students must obtain the signature of the dean of the college in which the course is offered. Fourth, the student stu-dent should take the card with the signature or signatures back to the registrar's office. Teacher not involved Dean Gordon said that the instructor in-structor is not involved in the withdrawal. "Before this quarter, a student had to take a card to his instructor to notify him of the withdrawal," he added. "But now, this is done directly by the registrar's regis-trar's office.
