Major powers, such as the United Slates, Great Britain, and Russia, lire supporting the Nigerian Nigeri-an government against the Biafra cause, said Mr. Onwegbu. The governments give political support sup-port to Nigeria while their people are sending aid to the Hiafrans. From the British viewpoint, as Ambassador Matthews has said, "A quick will of Hiafrans was a way to save Hiafrans." Mr. Onwegbu On-wegbu Insists that what killed Hiafrans Hi-afrans was arms and economic aid from lirilain and Russia. The British still control much of (he Nigerian government, even though Nigeria became an independent stale In I960.
