Show Commission examines ASUU representation A study to rennovate student government making it more representative of the studentbody is being conducted by a Commission to Study Student Government. i Mike Mattsson, Dean of Students office, proposed Monday a plan of reorganization attempting to eliminate the duplication of functions by the ASUU : Program Board and the Union Program's Council, and Challenge, ASUU Programs Board. i A plan discussed by the committee is to establish a 1 Representative Board. Ten members of the proposed board would be elected by their respective colleges; ten members would be chosen by population, for ! example, organizations would have a representative dependent upon the number of members in the organization; and there would be five members elected at large. Also suggested in plan the ASUU president would be assisted by six vice presidents. The vice presidents would head six boards, Finance, Student-Faculty, Public Affairs, Programs, Organizations ; nd a Community Service and Relations Board. In the meeting, the powers for the two divisions were discussed. It was suggested the Representative Board would have the power to approve, amend or veto programs initiated by the executive body. The executive branch would have the power to initiate any new programs that were needed. Each vice-president vice-president would be assisted by an appointed assistant and also by a member of the Representative Board. |
