Show c Course Evaluation Course Evaluation Cards will be sent to students with their advance registration materials this week. Student evaluation of autumn quarter will include the responses from 75 per cent of the studentbody and the results will be published in a book to be ready for spring quarter. Comparisons will be drawn between the teaching ability and practices of the professors and teaching assistants. Also the results of the poll will consider lower and upper division classes, small and large classes and high and low grades. Wrote Questionnaire Dr. Gary L. Gregor, Assistant professor of pyschology, aided in the writing of the questionnaire. Ed Catmull, committee chairman, said, "the success of this year's program depends heavily on a large return of the cards." The cards will be filled out on both sides and mailed with registration materials or dropped in the registrar's boxes. After the grades have been tabulated the results will be printed and available for registration for spring quarter. Anonymity of the students will be preserved as social security numbers will not be used. Influences Instructors Catmull said, "because of the influence of Course Evaluation on instructors, the committee has made it one of their goals that the evaluation ' be fair, honest and correct. To accomplish this, they improved the wording of this year's questionnaire. They also printed questions on the back of the card that requires written responses." The book will also contain three essays on the program: one by the Course Evaluation Committee one by Dr. Gregor and one negating the value of the program. |
