Show (g HRONICLE EDITORIAL, new mcaSQEine Pen, University literary magazine, will soon have a rival with a different slant. A freshman interest group plans to publish a 16-page literary magazine and distribute it on campus at the beqinning of winter quarter. The freshman will fill staff positions, sell ads for the financially self-sufficient magazine, and solicit material for publication from students. Included in the magazine, in addition to poetry and short stories, will be reviews of movies and books, essays dealing with political trends, and cartoons. Involved in production of the magazine are students Jerry Kelly and Mariah Bransford and interest group leader Sharon Mosier. The Chronicle welcomes this new addition to campus publications. While the Pen is expected to improve its quality and representation of student literal and art work . this year, the Chronicle believes that another outlet for student creativity is useful in what should be a "market place of ideas." A lot of time and effort will be required of the freshmen for the magazine to meet their standards, and the Chronicle is confident that the student editors have this commitment. We commend them for their spirit and their desire to do their share in the University community. Published daily during the fall, winter and spring quarters, except during test week, by the Associated Students of the University of Utah. Second class postage paid in the Post Office at Salt Lake City, Utah. The opinions expressed on the editorial pages of The Daily Utah Chronicle do not necessarily represent the view of the studentbody or the University administration. ane Lobell Editor-in-Chief Frank Erickson Gogi Foster j Managing Editor Business Manager ASSOCIATE EDITOR BRUCE ROBERTS COPY EDITOR ANGELYN NELSON HEAD PHOTOGRAPHER BRIAN RECORD SUPPLEMENT EDITOR RON SCOTT News Editor Heidi Sorensen Feature Editor Suzanne Dean Exchange Editor Kathy Buffmire Political Editor Scott Robertson Entertainment Editor Darrell Leo Review Board Chairman Ed Ditterline Art Ed'"' Bill Smith Literary Editor Hal Noakes Society Editor Patty Jackson Sports Editor qo Fowler Retail Sales Manager S.
