Show i Readers On Cycles, Huddle, I Was Robbed i Editor: Like man, while waiting for my Poly Sci oracle to start his discourse dis-course on Albanian rhubarb, I was perusing Friday's Chrony. Like, it's all about ASUU primary elections elec-tions and Governor Cal and spring fashions for the birds, but man, it's all strictly up-tight and fat cat. I always check the letters page to 5 see if the CIA's gonna infiltrate the Huddle, but I see I'm safe and nobody's no-body's got busted, so I come to page ten. Blow my mind! Shiver me timbers tim-bers and send me to Nam. There's a picture of my cycle and two others oth-ers in the Huddle lot with these Kappa Sigs looking very tough in the saddle. Ljke man, I know nothing of anybody any-body hustling my cycle till I see the pix. I search the deepest inner recesses of my mind and it grabs me. These cats are going to have a bash and make like Hell's Angels. But man, these guys are straight, clean shaven, short hair, no lice, brush their teeth with Colgate. And this guy is on my machine! He doesn't groove his own? Haybe - blows his bread on birds instead. Are these super-straights going to lift my baby for their party? Is their swing-a-ling a put-on? If they will introduce me to that chick behind be-hind Rick Dahl I'll stop asking questions and turn my mind on her! Fred Glover Too Unbelievable Editor: In regard to Bernhard't latest on Wallace. Yes( it is true that George Wallace Wal-lace stated that there are no ghettos ghet-tos in America. And yes, this would have been very revolting if this was all he said. However if Mr. Bernhardt had taken time to at-J at-J tend the Tele-Lecture or if he did, to take time to listen to all that was said, then he would have heard what was actually said. Mr. Wallace Wal-lace stated that there are no ghettos ghet-tos in America because in the definition def-inition of ghetto is where people are locked up at night because of their religious beliefs. In regard to the black vote Mrs. (not George) Wallace received. Mrs. Wallace's nearest opponent, Richmond Flowers, and the other men openly campaigned for the Negro' vote. Mrs. Wallace did not yet she received a majority of them. Perhaps Mr. Bernhardt should have checked the campaign issues of Alabama's elections instead in-stead of letting his imagination run wild. George Wallace also stated that the newspapers are slanted and biased to what the people are wanted want-ed to hear. Friday's article is a perfect example of this. If Mr. Bernhardt could look closely at himself, he would see he is more bigoted toward those who do not outright love the Negro than those he says are bigoted against them. The rest of his article is just too unbelievable to mention. Marcus Dean Trigger Happy Cops Editor: Thank goodness the recent controversy con-troversy regarding the Huddle is over and that the administration has wisely elected to let well enough alone. I'm afraid you puritans will simply have to reconcile yourselves your-selves to the fact that we "derelicts, "dere-licts, acid heads and non-conformists" were victorious and are going to be supping with you in the Huddle Hud-dle from here on out. There's just nothing anyone can do about it. No One Knows I sincerely believe many students don't realize or appreciate to what length the Park Bldg. hierarchy will go in preserving our rights, our freedom, our sense of security. We are the very fortunate beneficiaries beneficiar-ies of a system unparalleled anywhere any-where in the state. Just ask yourself your-self these questions and decide in all fairness if we haven't the greatest great-est thing ever going for us right here on campus: How many institutions insti-tutions provide their students with a place ,safe from the grasp of fanatic law officers? When the 25,000 people come on campus each day, our campus gestapo are instructed in-structed to take off their weapons until late afternoon when everyone goes home. How many other community com-munity leaders do you think have the foresight and consideration for their people to institute such a system sys-tem to frustrate their "trigger-happy" "trigger-happy" cops by disarming them? Wouldn't it be funny to watch them try to stop a fleeing felon without their trusty gat? What other institution would so wisely allow conditions to exist which would drive off such radical and lawless spokesmen for unnecessary organizations like the C.I. A.? And have you ever stopped to think how progressive, realistic and enlightened en-lightened our administration is? They realize that smoking pot is no great sin and have enacted their own drug policy on campus which greatly reduces one's fear of being caught. Downtown the cops think smoking pot is a felonious activity so remember, always smoke "grass" on campus, not downtown where you are liable to be arrested for a felony instead of visiting with the dean for a few minutes. Believe me, it takes wisdom, courage and backbone for you decision de-cision makers in the Park Bldg. to stand up to the fanatic, unfounded unfound-ed complaints of those who'd like to change the status quo. You have our deepest gratitude; it makes one proud to be a part of this great university. And, by the way, please hurry and ask Allen Ginsberg to return and give us another inspiring inspir-ing vocabulary lesson. We loved him! Dave Wise |
