Show Common Local Gestapo Tactics Duane Price At 11:30 p.m., August 12, two fellows were approaching their beat up Triumph sports car, which was parked on the corner of State Street and Second South. As they approached their car, eight Sting Rays and Three Corvettes came up State Street, dragging each other; yelling obscenities at pedestrians and making a lot of noise. One fellow fel-low remarked that it was odd that the gestapo was not around. Maybe they were all out busting private-enterprising private-enterprising women, who are legally leg-ally pursuing their professions, or illegally taking mellow yellow away from local teenagers; which of course does not leave much time for them to catch those who break the law. It is well known that the local gestapo has to meet their quota of tickets and harassment, or they get called on the carpet by our great leader, great supreme commander and great halmsmen, great capital- I : 1st Chief DeWey Fillis.- Anyone from the Student Voice can testify to the harassment of The Pillar of Salt, which started with a lousy job by the local gestapo to frame Student Voice workers on a charge of possible poss-ible possession of pot. The gestapo even sent a local stoolie to strat things off. And why did this happen? hap-pen? Because Chief Fillis Can't stand any criticism of his actions. Now back to the action on State Street, and the two fellows who had gotten into their Triumph. The traffic was heavy as usual on a weekend night, and there seemed to be no way to stay on State Street. The car was parked next to the crosswalk, and next to an aneient car in the Outside lane of traffic. The light turned green and the Triumph pulled out, well in front of the ancient car, turned on its blinker and had changed to the inside lane by the time it reached First South in order to make a left hand turn. Suddenly there were ' red lights flashing all over the place. Sure enough, Officer Cameron, and Officer Mclntyre were on the job, selecting the poor working class of people to harass. As they wrote out the ticket, one fellow asked them how come they did not stop the Sting Rays which were -creating a traffic hazard and intira-idating intira-idating pedestrians. One officer i said, "Oh, we saw them go by, but they were too far ahead of us to catch." But yet they were fast enough to give a . couple poor fel-ows fel-ows a citation for allegedly not yielding right of way to the outside out-side lane of traffic and improper lane changing. One of the fellows remarked that an article would be in The Pillar Pil-lar of Salt about the incident. One officer sarcastically said, "We -caught one of those people about four days ago." Only the opinions of the writer are expressed herein; but the unusually un-usually great amount of evidence points to the realism that any individual in-dividual or group, who attempts to express themselves and disagree with the moral, political or personnel per-sonnel beliefs of the Establishment, can bet that they will be harassed, intimidated, issued citations, fined and possibly thrown into jail. Haven't we heard of tactics like these being used somewhere be- , fore? |
