Show Powers: A Hoax? by Sandy Woodward It seems as if now days nomajor incident of any consequence can escape into the history books of following generations until the case at hand is examined numerous times only to be criticized and examined ex-amined again. One prime example of this is the continual research and re-research into the findings of the 'Warren Commission. The material concerning the murder of the late president is not only getting get-ting old but is presently drawing attention from another investigation investiga-tion that is currently sitting at the sidelines of the public view. This incident being the Gary Powers U-2 affair of several years past. The report of what happened claimed that the Russians had by means of a rocket device, shot down the U-2. The U-2 then, consequently con-sequently crashed on Soviet soil to the shutter of many cameras. This seems simple enough, and indeed in-deed very logical, but let us for a moment look a little deeper into this problem. First of all, at that time the Soviet Union had not manufactured a missle of such a nature that could find, seek and distroy an aircraft flying at that altitude and speed. Secondly, if one was to review the qualities of the U-2, he, would find that (1) the U-2 was designed to disintegrate disinte-grate upon free falling from such a highth (the craft, as witnessed by many photos reveal the plane as only slightly damaged as if it had crashed landed) and (2) that Gary Powers flight suit was rigged to distroy him if such a thing happened. So from this it would seem as if the whole incident was planted for some curious reason or other. These Teasons are simple to find. First of all, a summit conference was about to convene and IKE (President at the time) had. stated he didn't wish to attend the meeting meet-ing this would give him a good reason for staying in Gettysburg for the weekend. Again, this made the Russians admit we had been flying over their country for years, contrary to what they told the American public and the rest of the world. So it seems that the whole story was another Washington hoax . . . why doesn't someone investigate Washington Hoaxes? |
