When final grades are made out, the professor will be notified as to which students are to receive a pass-fail grade instead of a let ter when the grades are reported. report-ed. Therefore, in most cases, students will be able to learn what they would have received by handing the instructor a self-addressed self-addressed stamped postcard when they take the final. Unless the University of Utah Board of Regents veto it, (and this action appears to be most unlikely) next fall will see the university adopting a limited pass or fail grading system. Under the proposed system, university students will be allowed al-lowed to select certain classes for which they will be graded pass-fail. It will be left entirely to the student as to whether or not he chooses any pass-fail classes, and, outside of a few restrictions, what these pass-fail pass-fail classes will be. In addition to classes (such as P.E.) which are automatically pass-fail, students stu-dents may have one class for which they receive no letter grade during a given quarter. However, freshman and sophomore sopho-more students will not be al- lowed to take pass-fail classes for two consecutive quarters, limiting them to 3 pass-fail classes in 2 years. All pass-fail credit hours will count toward graduation, but they will not count as fulfilling the requirements for a major, except on special arrangements with the Department involved. Therefore, all pass-fail classes must be oustide the major classes. Students desiring pass - fail classes will sign up for them during normal registration, using a special form. However, professors pro-fessors will not be notified as to which students are not taking the class for a letter grade. Therefore, students on pass-fail will receive letter grades on all . i Name Student Number Age: (under 20)....(20-25).... (25 plus).... Major Class Frosh ; Soph ; Jr ; Sr Sex: M.... F..
