Show Student Regulations Makes Decision Lock ? Iod E EOcfrDrni Student Regulations Commit-tco Commit-tco decided Thursday that insufficient in-sufficient evidence had been presented pre-sented to warrant postponement of swearing-in of newly-elected ASUU officers this Saturday. John Gaines, ASUU president, commented that most of the evidence evi-dence presented was only rumor. ru-mor. "We have to consider the magnitude of things, John Kes-ler Kes-ler won by about 400 votes and most of the chairmen were way ahead. We have no positive evidence evi-dence to say that the voting was off by even one per cent." Joe Trachtenberg presented a list of about 15 names of persons per-sons who stated that they voted illegally. He also charged that student government was not concerned con-cerned with the problem enough to do any investigation of their own. "If you had been interested 2nough, you would have been out getting evidence to clear up the rumors and substantiate violations," vio-lations," Trachtenberg told a special meeting of the Student Regulations Committee. A group attempting to void the elections had been given until un-til Thursday to gather all their evidence as to why the officers should not be sworn-in as sched- u uled. Trachtenberg explained I that many persons who were contacted con-tacted admitted to election violations vio-lations but would not agree to have their names used in t h e fight against the elections. "It is because of this lack of support sup-port that we have been unable to gain any ground," he said. His committee stated that enough violations could be cited if persons who admitted to violations viola-tions could be given immunity from being prosecuted. This proposal pro-posal was rejected by the Stu dent Regulations Committee. Bruce Hancey, Elections Committee Com-mittee chairman, said that a 1 1 rumors had, in fact, been investigated. inves-tigated. "All of the ones we have heard have been proved false. No ballot boxes went home. Those which were reportedly to have been taken to persons' homes were actually locked up in a storage room in the Union and only studentbody officers could get a key to the room," he explained.
