Show Regents Pick English Prof John P. Barnes was appointed assistant professor in the English Eng-lish department by the University Univers-ity Board of Regents. Barnes will fill a faculty position posi-tion vacated by Professor Donald Don-ald Heiney. Barnes, a former teaching assistant at the University Uni-versity of Iowa, has a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Omaha Om-aha University and a master's degree in comparative literature from the University of Iowa. The appointment is effective Sept. 1. English department chairman Dr. Kenneth Eble, in recommending recom-mending the appointment, said, "Mr. Barnes is extremely interested in-terested in our Humanities Program Pro-gram and in working with the Languages department to develop devel-op comparative literature at both the undergraduate and graduate level. We are very happy to obtain a man so eminently emin-ently qualified from a major graduate school." |
