Show Sthmdemiffs Voice rapes Despite ' some of the bizarre problems of a few students, the Soundoff discussion group decided decid-ed computer registration is here to stay. Most of Soundoff felt the first try for Maximum Advanced Registration Reg-istration (MAR) had more than its share of "bugs" and one more quarter should be allowed before shelving the process. As one student put it, "If my spring registration is as mixed up and incomplete as winter, I'm going to start complaining." Draft Board Pounces Each of the Soundoff members cited example after example of their friends who had had "com puter" problems. One said she had a freshman friend who received re-ceived eight out of fifteen hours requested and before he could change his schedule, he had received re-ceived an induction notice. Another An-other said three fraternity brothers broth-ers had had schedule and job conflicts. Most said they knew students who were "stuck" with an alternative class they did not want. The main problem of the system, sys-tem, one student said, was the time gap between the selection of courses and receiving registration. regis-tration. "Between this time, jobs, marriage and other committments committ-ments come up, then the re-reg istration is like starting from scratch." A secretary from one department said she had many names on enrollment lists who had yet to show up for class, implying that many students had, for some reason, failed to return. Disgusted, Quit One Soundoff member cited an example of a friend who had her schedule so confused and incomplete in-complete that she became disgusted dis-gusted and withdrew from school. Statistical information that 98 per cent of the students received "what they wanted," was misleading, mis-leading, Soundoff felt. |
