Show 'Uon Broadway' Climaxes With Last Dance Whether it is on the West Side, the East Side or the Wild Side, "U on Broadway" has been playing all week premiering with Glen Yarbrough and closing clos-ing with the dance tomorrow night in the Union Ballroom. BILL EVANS, U-Days publicity public-ity chairman, said this dance, the last big' one of the year, appears to be fairly successful. However, tickets are still on sale at the Huddle booth between be-tween 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and at the Residence Halls during dinner hours. The price is J2.5U before or $3 at the door of the eala event. . , Last night songfest, featuring featur-ing Broadway hits resung by fraternity and rority members, was narrated by Jim Perry. Four Greek fraternities and one sorority did not enter the com-petition com-petition this year by majority votes of their houses even though their names appeared on the program. Pi Kappa Alpha, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Phi Sigma Kappa, Beta Theta Pi and Phi Mu did not present contributions. EVENTS BEING held during the week have caused many by-passers to wonder if egg throwing or kite flying were academic courses. Three independents inde-pendents came out with "flying "fly-ing colors" with their original kites. One that won the most maneuverable and best all-around all-around was a 10 by 8 inch seran wrap flying machine. The largest larg-est was a 12 by 9 contraption. Sigma Pi men and the Delta Delta Delta's outran all the other quasi-insects during the six-legged race, which features five members of a team with one of their legs strapped together. to-gether. "We just got off on the right foot all six of them, explained Knute Boberg about the Sigma Pi win. Rich Gibson, Justin Barton, Mike Tracey and Bob Bradley helped Mr. Boberg get that start, and they broke the existing record with their 17 second spurt. Cathy Clark, Barbara Lovett, Monetta Bos-trum, Bos-trum, Chris Olsen and Judy Thurber jogged together for the sorority win. ALPHA CHI Omega's team and the Sigma Nu's deserve bows for the egg throwing talents tal-ents displayed Wednesday. Marianne Ma-rianne Daynes, Kathy Owen, Colleen Wright, Connie Zwick, Sandra Keyes, Joi Snelgrove, Janet Crystal and Rosy Garff all pitched in at the contest. Lines were marked off and each member was given one egg to throw to his partner, with the stipulation that each time an egg was caught they would both step back a pace and throw again. Nu's Al Smolka find Dave Covell had the most open space between them before their egg broke. Exciting to the very end was the Skinny-phi's versus the Fat-phi's Fat-phi's as the Phi Delta Theta men battled to the finish in the tug-of-war. Finally, the Fat-phi's: Gene Rodgers, Dave Heller, Chris Christensen, Larry Weed, Jim Morris, Craig Anderson, Steve Roshek, Ken Baranco and Dan Marsh pulled the opposing team through the mud and were declared champions. Today's activity will be cleanup clean-up the "U" with whitewash at 2:30 p.m. Then, tomorrow Mike Romney's Combo will perform at the dance when the queen and attendants will be presented, present-ed, sweepstakes trophy at 29 inches will be awarded and the Songfest trophy will be given. |
