Show Fulbright-Hays Grant Competition Will Be Terminated On October 31 Competition for the 1966-67 Fulbright-Hays Grants will be terminated shortly, reports the Institute of International Education. THE FULBRIGHT-Hays grants are made available by the U.S. government for graduate research re-search and study abroad. They are also available for study and professional training in the creative crea-tive and performing arts, which are part of the State Department's Depart-ment's educational and cultural exchange program to increase mutual understanding between the U.S. and other nations. Approximately Ap-proximately 900 grants are made available in 54 countries. Requirements for this award are U.S. Citizenship, a Bachelor's degree (or its equivalent by the beginning date of the grant), and enough proficiency in language to fulfill an assigned project. THREE TYPES of grants are available under the Fulbright-Hays Fulbright-Hays program; (1) full awards which take care of tuition, transportation trans-portation and maintenance expenses, ex-penses, insurance, and allowance; (2) joint awards which combine tuition and maintenance from a foreign government with travel costs from the U.S. government, and (3) travel-only grants which may supplement other scholarships scholar-ships given by universities, foreign for-eign governments and private donors.
