Show Fire Makes Hot Auto Even Hotter Most Corvette sting rays are usually seen burning up the road. Yesterday, bystanders at 1387 E. First South saw a Corvette catch fire in another way. THE FAST 1965 auto, belonging belong-ing to Harold Jenkins, a graduate grad-uate student, caught fire while traveling down First South. Jerry Robinson, always looking look-ing to help, ran out of the Sigma Chi house with a fire extinguisher to lend a hand. BUT HIS help wasn't enough, and a speedy arrival from a fire truck and three firemen gave the car a dose of "wet water." Cause of the blaze was a loose fuel line, causing gas to hit the hot engine. Damage was estimated from $50 to $75 by fireman first class Jack Whipple. Whipple said most of the engine wiring was burned. |
