Show "ASUU Candidates Announced U Cannon, Evans, Moss Contest Pres, Constitution Main Campaign Issue By STEVE SWINNEY Chronicle Copy Editor For the first time in many years the campaigning cam-paigning of the three presidential candidates is based on two very solid issues. These two issues will center themselves around the new constitution consti-tution and the lack of student participation. AT LAST SATURDAY'S seminar for all candidates, ASUU President Gifford Price pointed out the fact that this year's elections will be the roughest that nominees have had to face in a great while. There have been no precedents set as yet as to what next year's government will do and how it will function. It will be necessary during the next two weeks for all the candidates to express ex-press ideas and platforms that express desires. THERE ARE three presidential and vice pres-dential pres-dential candidates vying for the positions this year. For president Jim Cannon, Pi Kappa Alpha; Steve Evans, Sigma Chi; and Jim Moss, Sigma Chi will fight out the issues of how the new constitution should functions, and what the University Uni-versity is to do about student participation. THE VICE presidential post is being contested con-tested by Leonard Black, Sigma Chi; Steve Harm-sen, Harm-sen, Pi Kappa Alpha; and Bill Loos, Sigma Nu. Like the presidential candidates, these men will be running a campaign on absolutely no precedents. pre-cedents. The biggest change in the student government govern-ment has been the addition of the four three-member three-member boards. Each of these boards will control con-trol some faction of the University. THE STUDENT-FACULTY Board will be primarily responsible to and for all the functions of the student-faculty committees. It will be the duty of each of the three members of the new board to keep close tabs on every student-faculty board that is organized on this campus. There are nine candidates for the board: Wally Boyack, Carolyn Cornia, John Huffman Zane "R" Miskin, Brook Noall, George Pugsley, Joan Richards, Annette Sorensen and Charles Walton. THE PROGRAM'S Board has been established estab-lished as that body responsible to and for the student committees on the campus. The board will have jurisdiction over such committees as the Model UN, Homecoming, "U" Days and Challenge. The ten candidates for this board are as follows: Dick Abbott, Lee Bishop, Kent Boyd, Richard Fox, Helen Goddard, Tom Hawkes, Rob Jacobsen, Gardner Jolly, Kate Kirkham and Don Westfall. ALL AUTONOMOUS recognized student organizations or-ganizations on the University, campus will fall under the responsibility of the Organizations Board. The Organizations Board will have the power to check on such committees as IFC, Panhellenic and RHA. Seven candidates are running for the post: Rick Bird, Tim Dunn, Patty Forsberg, Dave Judd, Chad Mullins, Jane Parrish and David Robertson. THE FINAL new board will regulate and approve ap-prove all committee budgets on the campus, and will formulate the overall University budget. At first glance this may seem to be relatively rela-tively simple; however, this single three-member board will be responsible for the spending of the studentbody's $400,000. THE SEVEN candidates for the board are as follows: Mike Arishita, Jay Donohoe, John A. Gaines, Marilyn Millerberg, Richard Staton, Russell Rus-sell L. Stubbles and Brian Swinton. Along with the president and vice president presi-dent and board members are the AMS and AWS offices. CANDIDATES FOR the AMS offices are as follows: ,President: Joseph M. Zaelit, Sigma Alpha Epsilon; and Lance Parker, Pi Kappa Alpha. VICE PRESIDENT: William Hurst, Sigma Alpha Epsilon; and Dennis Miya, Pi Kappa Alpha. Secretary: Owen Reese, Pi Kappa Alpha. TREASURER: Stephen Goddard, Sigma Alpha Al-pha Epsilon. Candidates for AWS officers are as follows: PRESIDENT: Kathryn Lloyd and Jill Thiede. Vice president: At the present there are no candidates.
