Show i Model U.N. ! Will Hold 10th Meet The oldest and largest High School Model United Nations f Assembly in the country will hold its tenth annual meeting at the j University April 17 and '18. OVER 1500 students from 70 Utah high schools will be on the campus to learn about and discuss dis-cuss world affairs at the Utah i Model U.N. The two-day assemb- 1 ly is sponsored jointly by the University Extension Dixision ;j and the Utah Chapter of the si Association for the United 'Nat- 1 ions. Dr. Harold V. Bentley, dean f1 of the Extension Division and i chairman of the Model UN, said Tt this year's colloquium discuss- ion will be the role of the United ? Nations and the role of the Unit- i! ed States in the UN. He said the topic for the specialized ag- y encies section will be "educa- j" tion." j Thee sessions, which begin after the traditional parade of flags, will give the young Utah-nas Utah-nas an opportunity to debate the major issues of our civilization, basing their debate not upon r i their own prejudices but upon .-a .-a conscientious attempt to adopt r I the views and attitudes of their ; : assigned country. i i ' , The students have been col- j i lecting material on the cult-i cult-i ural, economic, historical and i political aspects of their 'adopted" 'ad-opted" countries since last September in order to play . their roles as UN dck'rUts as realistically as possible. I The Model UN helps students to develop political awareness. The young delegates run the cn- h 5 tire assembly. They outline the ,'' , program and write their own 1 resolutions.
