Show Forest Ranger Warns j Hunters on Fires j With the occurrence of a small hunter-caused fire in the Big John Flat area last week, Forest Ranger Don Seaman sent out an appeal 'for everyone to do all possible to prevent forest fires. Our forests and ranges have reached a critical stage of moisture mois-ture deficiency. This is now the case on the entire Beaver District of the Fishlake Na-lional Na-lional Forest. If rains do not occur soon, the fall hunting season will be very dry. The jooperation of all forest users will be needed to keep our forests for-ests free from fire. Through hasty action by co-operators, co-operators, sportsmen and some Beaver High School students, last week's fire was held to a small size, however, Ranger Seaman warned that with conditions con-ditions as dry as they are, all fires can very rapidly become large fires. Everyone going into the National Forests is urged to do all they can to see that forest- fires do not occur. ''Here's how you can help prevent forest 'fires: Smoke only in a safe place. Break your match between your fingers to be sure it is out. Grind out your cigaret butt or empty your pipe heel in safe dirt. Diown or bury your campfire." As Smoky the Bear says, "Remember only you can prevent pre-vent forest fires:" |
