Show THREE CITY COUNCILMEM TO BE SELECTED AT TUESDAY'S EECTION Milford voters will cast ! their ballots next Tuesday. Nov. 8th, for three city coun-cllmen coun-cllmen to serve four-year terms. Two slates have been filed. The Independent Party, at present in office, have nominated nominat-ed M. S. (Bud) Bown, present water commissioner; Richard Fisher, operator of Dick's Shell Service, and A. S. (Bud) Whit-taker, Whit-taker, present parks commissioner. commis-sioner. Running on the Progressive Party ticket are Theodore (Ted) Christensen, Milford optometrist; optomet-rist; John Davis, assistant cashier cash-ier at the Milford State Bank; and Elwood Jefferson, manager of the Jefferson Mercantile Co. The Independents are "standing "stand-ing on their record," and the Progressives are challenging the record and announce a platform plat-form of "permanent" city improvements. im-provements. A straw poll was conducted early in the week at the Milford Mil-ford High School by Jesse Long, and the results indicate a split in sentiment. Ted Christensen of the Progressives had the highest vote total with 121, followed fol-lowed by Independents Bud Whittaker with 111 and Richard Fisher, 108. Bud Bown polled 52, Jack Davis 65, and Elwood Jefefrson 49. Write-ins gave seven votes to Harold Edwards and one each to Clyde Griffiths, Freeman Orr and Sheridan Rogers. Polls will be open from 7 a. m. to 8 p. m., with voting for all three districts to be in the Milford Library building. Absent Ab-sent voUr ballots may be obtained ob-tained at the city office. |
