Show Editorials .... FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS This week we were told. of two instances in which Milford was "stabbed" by business men in other communities. Communities Com-munities which have profeised friendship for Milford, and have often sought support of Mil'ford citizens and Milford merchants. Makes one wonder who our "friends" are, and to what extent we have their friendship. The first instance concerned California folks, coming to Milford for an Easter week-end visit. In Cedar City, at a service serv-ice station and later at a restaurant, they were told emphatically that "There just aren't any accommodations at all in Milford. You'd better make arrangements to stay here tonight, and drive on to Milford tomorrow." The other incident happened in Ely, Nev. A tourist planning to visit the Southern Utah parks was told by a filling station attendant at-tendant that "There is no road at all 'from Ely to Milford. If you want to see the Utah parks, you'll have to go back to Delta, and then to Highway 91 at Holden before turning south." So the traveler went on west through Nevada. These might be isolated instances reflecting lack of information. infor-mation. We don't like to even think they were deliberate false statements. Which points up the need for an educational campaign. cam-paign. We think the Milford business men and civic leaders owe it to themselves and their community to get together, map out a long-range educational and promotional campaign, and "sell" Milford and the Milford tourist route to our "friends and neighbors" neigh-bors" in Nevada, Northern Utah, and Southern Utah. At the same time, it would be wise to more effectively educate edu-cate our hometowners on the advantages of spending their dollars dol-lars in Milford. |
