Smith The hi.uhlir.ht or the 4-11 Club Leaders' State Trninini; School held at the U S A C at Loan, at lea-t for Jennie Sue Smith and Mrs. George K. Smith, was meeting and visiting ajjain with Kern Shipley, formerly Beaver County Home Demonstration Agent. She was still the same Fern, and it seemed like old times. The most thrilling part was a feature called "Abraham Lincoln Lin-coln Speaks," by Dr. N. A. Ped-orson. Ped-orson. Dr. Pederson was dressed as Abraham Lincoln and the audience audi-ence sat absolutely spellbound for nn hour and a half as Dr. Pederson let us look into the heart of Abraham Lincoln and we heard the problems, the criticisms, crit-icisms, the misgivings, the an-quish an-quish and grief he suffered. It was a very enjoyable week as well as instructive. It was a wonderful privilege to be able to attend, and I only wish mere of the 4 11 leaders from our county would take advantage advant-age of this opportunity. Our day's activities started at 7 o'clock, and we breakfasted in Ihe Union Building at i!. The morning sessions started at i) o'clock in the Kural Arts build'ng. We saw club work at community level, county, state, and II S Department of Agriculture levels. In the afternoons we took project activity. Jennie Sue went into Foods and Mrs. George E. Smith, Home Improvement. Im-provement. We held group discussions, saw films, and heard ideas from outstanding cfub activities, reports, re-ports, and the "Fashion Show and Tea" given by the School of Home Economics. 4-H is a wonderful program. It has the largest membership of any youth program--in the world. |
