Show Society Clubs Mrs. Palricia Williams, Editor Phone 150 ESCALANTE Anxiliary 154G to the V F W held its regular meeting Nov. 11th in St. Bridget's Brid-get's Recreation Hall with Pres- jdent Juanita Gleason presiding. Mrs. Dora Smithson reported that 26 gift boxes had been sent to G I's in Korea, and wishes to thank everyone who contributed to the program. President Gleason appointed a committee to meet with Dr. Davie to locate the iron lung and return if to Milford. The iron lung was bought several years ago by Beaver and Iron Counties under sponsorship of Escalante Auxiliary. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Cora Jones and Mrs. Nina Bingham. THE DAUGHTERS of the Pioneers Pio-neers sponsored a card party for the purpose of completing the . D U P memorial marker erected j in Library Park. The acting com- mittee included Mrs. Wanda Holm, Mrs. Ireta Zabriskie, Mrs. Nina Bingham and Mrs. Lettie Fotheringham. The party, held at the Wanda Holm residence, was featured by four tables of bridge, with Mrs. Marjorie Harton snd Mrs. Phyllis Phyl-lis Whittaker receiving the prizes and at pinochle Mrs. Maxine Bo-hart Bo-hart and Mrs. Edith Wisner were the winners. Mss. LeVera Meeker Meek-er received the house prize. A desesrt luncheon was served after the game of cards. t THE UTAHNA LODGE met Friday evening for their regular meeting in the I OO F hall. Mrs. Marie Hill and Lou Ann Naillon from Timpanogos Lodge were welcomed as new transfer members. mem-bers. Following the regular business i bundle shower was held for Glenda Fowles. The committee for the affair consisted of Vera Cooper, Magdalena White, Lucille Lu-cille Raines, and Gracie Banks. Those present were Maude Mills, Eva Banks, Patsy Johnson, Le-nora Le-nora Swindlehurst, Phyllis Erick-son, Erick-son, Faye Thompson, Virginia Fowles, Mary Louise Caputo, Nelda Memmott, Margaret Lund, Alma Sly, Kate McDonald, Mildred Mil-dred Coon, Lenora Smith, Lore-lie Lore-lie Dawson, Frieda Smith, Lillian Lil-lian Fotheringham, Merlin Mer-ryweather, Mer-ryweather, Edith Wisner, La Vera Meeker, Maurene Miller, Ruth Lish, Marjorie Harton, Almeda Holbrook and Florence Myers. A delicious lunch was served followed by bridge and pinochle. Winners at bridge were Phyllis Erickson, Alma Sly, and Patsy Johnson. Pinochle winners were Marjorie Harton, Almeda Holbrook Hol-brook and Merlin Merryweath-er. Merryweath-er. Glenda received many lovely gifts. MEMBERS OF the Thursday Nite Bridge club and guests were entertained at the home of Mrs. V. L. Boucher on Wednesday evening, Nov. 5th. A delightful dessert lunch was served by the hostess, after which the evening was spent at cards. Prizes went to Mrs. E. L. Smith, Mrs. R. H. Magill, and Mrs. J. H. Weston. Others in attendance were Mrs. J. R. Mur-dock, Mur-dock, Mrs. K. L. Archer, Mrs. Harold Cline and Mrs. A. L. McDonald. Tried a Want-Ad lately? THE LADY TRAINMEN of Rocky Mountain Lodge No. 841 held their annual birthday dinner din-ner on Monday, Nov. 3. It. was held at St. Bridget's Recreation Hall, where a turkey dinner was prepared and served by Father Valine. Following dinner, a fancy drill was put on by the drill team. Later, bridge, pinochle and canasta ca-nasta were played by the 31 j members attending. Prizes were won by Maudell Crane, Ethel Mclntyre, lone Roberts, Lathe Gronning and Ella Edwards. Table decorations and a beau-I beau-I tiful four-layer cake were pre- pared by the committee, LaRue ' Gallagher, Beatrice Spainhower, Eloise White, LaRee Hollis and I Geniel Moore. Cake and coffee I were served following the card games. THE ROSARIANS of St. Bridget's Brid-get's Parish met Sunday evening at the rectory. Mrs. O. R. Smith gave a detailed report of the diocesan council of Catholic Women held in ,Salt Lake City Nov. 1st. Mrs. Jane Gillies was appointed chairman of the parish par-ish card party to be given Nov. 24th. Mrs. Theresa Pitchforth, Mrs. Marjorie McDermott and Mrs. Margaret Morehouse were appointed to prepare gifts for the Catholic students for the Christmas party to be held in Brigham. Immediately following the meeting Father Valine and the ' members went to the home of 1 Mrs. Pitchforth where lovely refreshments re-freshments were served. The rest of the evening was spent in planning the card party. Father Valine donated a turkey to be used as a door prize. At the meeting election of officers of-ficers was held with the following follow-ing members elected to take office of-fice in January: Mrs. Smith was ' re-elected president; Mrs. Gil-I Gil-I lies, vice president; Mrs. Pitch-forth, Pitch-forth, secretary; Mrs. Florence Crahan, treasurer, and Mrs. Barbara Bar-bara McGinn, reporter. The December meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Peggy Sullivan. |
