Show B Y U SLATES TURKEY DAY TILTS WITH U OF D Football fans thruout the Beehive Bee-hive state will be treated to a new Thanksgiving Day classic in 1953 when the Brigham Young University and the University of Utah initiate their "turkey day" series at Salt Lake City. Announcement of the series came from Edwin R. Kimball, director of athletics at B Y U, who released the information in answer to hundreds of inquiries regarding this year's B Y U-Utah game , which is scheduled for the U Stadium next Saturday night. Originally the tilt was to be a Cougar home game, but the site was switched to Salt Lake City in order to work in a Thanksgiving Day series with the Redskins in years to come. The Ute-Cougar Thanksgiving Day clashes, however, will only be held every other year, falling on the odd years such as 1953, 1955, etc. The other traditional B Y U-Utah games will be played in Provo on the even years, but not on Thanksgiving Day. "There's no doubt about the beneficial qualities of this new arrangement," said Director Kimball. "I am sure that both the B Y U and the U of U have taken a big step forward in supplying sup-plying football fans thruout the state with a more attractive schedule." |
