Show SOVIET PLANNING WORKS IN AMERICA ; By Merle Riche A study of history's pages reveals many a gem. Time does not dull their brilliance. Today they shine out as they did then. This pearl fell from the lips of Benjamin Franklin: "Attempts thought to be impossible do often become pos-rible pos-rible and practicable because nobody expects them and no precautions are taken to guard against them." It would almost seem that some of the founding fathers of this nation saw into the future. History confirms that they did. But what is also true, they distilled dis-tilled much wisdom from the past. In the formation of the Constitution of the United States of America they studied all the forms of government that had ever been upon the earth. Out of these studies which revealed the weaknesses of past governments govern-ments came our Constitution which guarded against their repetition. So secure have we been for hte last century and a halft that a complacent attitude that has developed into indifference has arisen among us here in this country. The common thought and saying has been "Lt can't happen here." But it is happening, hap-pening, and fast! The attacks that are being made and have been made upon the Constitution continually for the last three decades are beginning begin-ning to succeed. Constitutional government is no longer revered i Christianity has become but a social fraternity. The nation's , citizens are no longer aware j that they live in a republic and not a democracy. Independence I and freedom are being sacrificed j to slavery and security. j Yet few are able to compre- j hend or willing to accept the fact that this is all a part of a gigantic and diabolical plot to overthrow this nation. This I planned revolution in its ulti-j mate means force and violence. ' But first the people must be so ' confused on what they consid-ered consid-ered basic and eternal truths that they would be unable and incapable of responding wholeheartedly whole-heartedly to the cause of right. One early communist leader said, "The day will come when we will get America to spend itself to death." We are. I Another branded the Christian Chris-tian nations as communism's ! worst enemies. The most strong-' ly Christian nation is America and it is Russia's worst enemy. That is, at heart, not diplomatically. diplomat-ically. Another publicly proclaimed the purpose of communism to j "Sovietize" America. They are ' doing just that. i A weakened Christianity, a weakened financial structure, j and a lack of faith in American ideals is a constantly growing, ' ever-present menace to our safety, well-being, and progress. The attempts to bring about this situation which many thought was an impossiblity and something to be winked at has become, now, a very distinct possibility. Why? Because nobody no-body expected it could happen and precautions were not taken to guard against the developing menace. Whether it is too late to stem the oncoming tide or not remains to be seen. Of one thing we are sure. That is, that each and every American is responsible for his own best efforts in the cause of Constitutional Americanism. Ameri-canism. It is up to each of us to be informed on the issues of the I day. It is up to each of us to radiate his convictions in word and deed. |
