Show Seconb "Mnxb By MRS. BETH FISHER In the absence of Bishop Gronning, who had gone to Salt Lake City to attend "The Messiah," Mes-siah," Counselor Gael W. Elmer took charge of sacrament meeting meet-ing on Sunday evening. Speakers Speak-ers for the evening were Frank Lewis, Mrs. A. A. Jones and Calvin Bartholomew. Mr. Lewis who is home on leave, told where he had been since joining join-ing the service, and expressed his pleasure at being home once again. Mrs. Jones read excerpts from some of the letters from her son Derald, who has spent the past year in the North Central Cen-tral States Mission. He has been located at Austin, Minn., and is finding much joy in his mission labors. Mr. Bartholomew gave a very timely talk about the need for all of us to live as we should to keep our own selves in order and then, if everyone thruout the world would do this, world conditions would right themselves. A musical number was given by Ruth Firmage, who sang "I Walked Where Jesus Walked." She was home from school for the Christmas holidays. Visiting in Sunday School on Dec. 31 were the following members of the Sunday School Stake Board: Gilbert Gale, Hy-rum Hy-rum Lee, Hattie Schwab and G. A. Terry. Mr. Gale spoke in Sunday School. Fireside, which was to have been held last Sunday at the McCoy Williams home, was postponed until next Sunday evening, Jan. 6th. Primary children and their I leaders held a New Year's party on the afternoon of Dec. 31. The opening prayer was given by Neil Roberts and the Project by Sue Ann Thompson. Afterward a program was given. Dennis Belliston and Jerry Berger sang solos. There was a song from Joan and Mary Edwards, Connie Con-nie Holbrook, and Kristin Lish, and another one by Sherrie Gil-lins, Gil-lins, Sue Ann Thompson and Sandra Beard. President Ruth Lish gave a short talk and Cuma Goodwin offered the closing prayer. After the program each , child received a treat j Primary Preparation meeting j for January will be held Mon-1 day evening, Jan. 7, at the home of Cuma Goodwin. Opal Walker Walk-er will be co-hostess with Mrs. Goodwin. There has been no Relief So ciety held during the holidays, but it will be held again commencing com-mencing nekt Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 2 p. m. This will be the regular theology and testimony meeting. President Helen Gil-lins Gil-lins extends an invitation to all the ladies of the ward to start the New Year out by attending Relief Society regularly. |
