Show ESCALANTE AUXILIARY to the Veterans of Foreign Wars held their regular monthly meeting May 8th in St. Bridget's Brid-get's Hall, with President Jean-ette Jean-ette Kohler presiding. Mrs. Dora. Smithson acting as installing install-ing officer, seated the following follow-ing officers for the coming year: Mrs. Marjorie Gleason, junior vice president, and Mrs. Cora Jones, patriotic instructor. The Department convention will be held in Salt Lake June 8th, 9th and 10th, and the following fol-lowing delegates were elected: Ethel Smith, chairman; Bernice Stewart and Magdaiena White'. Alternates are Violet Jeffers of Salt Lake, Lillian Atkin and Cora Jones. Mrs. Dora Smithson was elected District President of District 7, with Ethel Smith as district treasurer and Bernice Stewart as district secretary. President Kohler announced appointment of the following standing committees: Americanism, American-ism, Lillian Atkin; Essay, Cora Jones; publicity, Ethel Smith; hospital, Dora Smithson; poppy chairman; Marjorie Gleason; welfare, Bernice Stewart; youth Norma Walters; Home fund, Florence Barnes. It was announced that May 25th is National Buddy Poppy Day, and V F W Auxiliary members will be on the street that day with the poppies. It is hoped that the veterans who fought on foreign soil and are now disabled or have left orphan or-phan children, will not be forgotten for-gotten and everyone will wear a Buddy Poppy. MRS. E. L. SMITH entertained enter-tained her bridge club Tuesday evening. Prizes were received by Mrs. J. R. Murdock, Mrs. L. F. Crane, Mrs. Selar Hutchings. Other players enjoying the evening were Mrs. J. H. Weston, West-on, Mrs. K. L. Archer, Mrs. D. E. Kirk, and Mrs. Harold Cline. Mrs. Smith served a dessert course before the game of cards. I A BEAUTIFULLY arranged marriage took place in the spa- j cious, softly-lighed and flower decked living room at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Cline last Thursday evening, May 3rd, when Myrtle Marlene Mills became be-came the bride of Oliver Newton New-ton Savage. The ceremony was performed by Bishop Carlyle F. Gronning of the Milford Second L D S Ward. The attractive bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray H. Mills of Lynndyl, and the bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Gladys Savage of Houston, Texas. The bride, radiant in a white organdie gown over pale pink satin, entered the room on the arm of her father. Her sheer illusion fingertip veil was held in place with white and pink rosebuds. She held a bouquet of pink and white rosebuds on a net cushion. Her five attendants attend-ants were attractively gowned in models of blue, white, pale pink and lavender organdie. Attending , as bridesmaids were Roberta Johnson and Connie Con-nie Nieison, of Lynndyl. Matron Mat-ron of honor, a sister of the bride, Mrs. Sherie Mills Dut-son, Dut-son, carried a bouquet matching that of the bride. Flower girls were the charming young sisters, sis-ters, Lynda Rhae and Melody Loreen Mills. Mrs. Myrtle Mills, mother of the bride, was attractively gowned in soft gray organdie over pale pink taffeta. James P. Holm, grandfather of the bride, acted as best man. Mrs. Erma Cline was assisted in entertaining by Mrs. James P. Holm and Mrs. Harry Mills. Immediately after the ceremony cere-mony a reception was held at the C. R. Grimshaw home. The rooms were brightened by large vases of deep pink snapdragons and purple iris, iris. Out-of-town guests attending the wedding were Mrs. Aileen , Conger and Douglas Farnow of Las Vegas; Mrs. Jo Ann Ras-mussen Ras-mussen and daughter Patsy Pascale of Annabelle, Utah; Mr. and Mrs. S. G. Hickman, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Dern Osborn of Beaver; Beav-er; Roberta Nieison and Connie Johnson of Lynndyl; Mr. Talbot Tal-bot and Mr. Nieison of Delta; Mr. and Mrs. Savage left by plane, Saturday evening, for Houston, Texas, where they will make their home. |
