To those constantly tormented by this question, I should like to point out that no life can be strong that is marked by doubt, distrust and incessant worry. Yet faith is not always easy and we would be less than human ii we did not worry when things go wrong. The attainment of. deep abiding faith is no small accomplishment. accom-plishment. Without spiritual strength, undesirable situations are apt to depress and conquer us. ' The teachings and life of Jesus offer us a means of meeting life's problems cheerfully. According to Jesus, our life will be what we make it. Love will make rough roads smoother. Humility will increase in-crease our stature. Charity, will provide us with an opportunity to learn, through aiding others in the solution of their problems, more about meeting our own misfortunes. misfor-tunes. We must take these teachings of Jesus to heart if we are to learn to live above worry. And we must also put these teachings into action. Compare the lives of the many church members who go to church when they feel like it with the life of the real Christian who has made the service of God and his fellow-men fellow-men the supreme thing in his life and not a matter dependent upon mood, whim and convenience. Every age and situation needs those who will serve and love. And only those whose beliefs take concrete con-crete form in action, such as churchgoing, will find themselves equipped to meet the challenge of everyday life with faith, strength ind an unshakeable belief in God. |
