Beesmyer, executive ex-ecutive vice-president of Gen eral Petroleum Corp., sponsor. Jimmy Jackson, Desert Hot Springs, Calif., will attempt to set six international records for diesel-powered cars; Roland R Free of Los Angeles will seek a new world motorcycle mark for one mile, and veteran Ab Jenkins, holder of all existing long-distance automobile speed records from 100 miles up to 48 hours of continual running, will try to break his own previously established records using the giant Mormon Meteor III. The Cummins Diesel Special No. 61 and driver Jimmy Jackson Jack-son previously set a qualifying mark of 129.208 mph in the 1950 Indianapolis race.
