Show City Council Approves Telephone Franchise The Mountain States Telephone Tele-phone and Telegraph Company was granted a 25-year franchise to operate in the City of Milford Mil-ford at Wednesday's regular session of the City Council. Mr. J. L. Bickmore of Provo, district dis-trict manager for the company, and Mr. Frank Sutherland of Beaver, local manager, represented repre-sented the company. Under the franchise, Milford City will collect the usual occupation oc-cupation taxes, and will receive free service for two telephones, one at the fire station and the other in the city offices. The company also will operate, oper-ate, free of charge, the fire siren and the police call system. The new lighting system for the city was discussed, with a representative of Westinghouse Electric explained types of street lamps. He was referred to Telluride Power Co. The Sportsmen's Club was granted a license to operate a card room. Marshal Leon Williams suggested sug-gested lights be installed behind be-hind the Jefferson Mercantile building, and in .the area back of the Firmage theater. |
