Show With The Ladles ' LOCAL AND PERSONAL NEWS SOCIETY CLUBS Mrs. Patricia Williams. Edilor Phone 150 MRS. KENNY HOLLIS was the charming hostess at luncheon lunch-eon on March 15th, honoring the Past Presidents Parlor of Milford Valley No. 21. Mrs. Vern Shingleton, Mrs. Wanda Holm, Mrs. O. R. Smith, Mrs. A. H. Connell and Mrs. G. H. Barnes attended the meeting, and spent the afternoon sewing. THE REGULAR meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary-was Auxiliary-was held Monday, March 20, in St. Bridget's Hall, with President Presi-dent Louise Briscoe presiding. In an impressive candlelight ceremony Mrs. Dorothy Terry was initiated into the unit, with Mrs. Naomi Hughes as initiating initiat-ing officer. The charter, handsomely hand-somely framed by Mr. Dave Erickson, was hung .The framing fram-ing was done by the Past President's Presi-dent's Parley of Milford Unit. Dainty refreshments were served and the rest of the evening eve-ning was spent in playing cards. Mrs. Terry and Mrs. Doris Gus-tavson Gus-tavson were prize winners at pinochle, Mrs. Letha Smythe and Mrs. Nina Bingham at bridge. Twenty officers and members were present. Hostesses were Mrs. Jean Hickman, Mrs. Ar-lene Ar-lene Voorhees, Mrs. Phyllis Price and Mrs. Alice Miller. LAST THURSDAY evening in the L D S Church Mrs. E. L. Smith presented a group of piano students in recital. A large and appreciative audience attested to the growing popularity popular-ity of these recitals, which are presented annually. The following students appeared ap-peared in solo and duet numbers: num-bers: Marilyn Moore, Susan Mc-Culley, Mc-Culley, Clare Williams, Gayle Edwards, Patricia Gronning, ! Harriet Cline, Carol Jean Gar-i Gar-i field, Frances Walters, Patricia Wilcock, Ruth Cline, Janice Nelson, and Joan Smith. They were assisted by Joan Smith in vocal numbers, accompanied by Janice Nelson and Lucile Smith. THE CATHOLIC LADIES sewing club met at the home of Mrs. Garth Banks Wednesday, March 15. The ladies are preparing pre-paring for their fall bazaar, and a number of lovely articles have been finished. Mrs. Banks was presented with an Amer-ical Amer-ical flag by Mrs. Owen R. Smith, celebrating Mrs. Banks' receipt of her citizenship papers March 8th. She was a native of Canada. Delicious refreshments were served. Members and guests present were Mrs. A. G. McGinn, Mc-Ginn, Mrs. Don Weisner, Mrs. Cecil Edwards, Mrs. J. H. Green and Mrs. J. V.JKing of Colorado, Mrs. Floyd Bedingfield, Mrs. David Morris and Mrs. Bobby Davis. Next meeting of the sewing sew-ing club will be at the home of Mrs. Weisner . THE REGULAR meeting and social of the G I A to the B of L E was held "March 16th in St. TJridget's Hall. Mrs. Mae Col-born, Col-born, 'president, was in the chair. A lovely gifts was presented pre-sented to Mrs Roma Carlton, who is moving to Prove Also, a stork shower honored Mrs. j Lois Moore. MILFORD VALLEY Past Presidents Parlor No. 21 of the G I A met March 16th with Mrs. Garnetta Hollis. A very delicious deli-cious hot dinner was served. A business meeting followed, with President Katherine Shingleton Shin-gleton presiding. The rest of the afternon was spent in sewing. sew-ing. Mrs. Ethel Smith won the house raffle. Other members present were Mrs. Wanda Holm, Mrs. Florence Barnes and Mrs. Marvel Connell. The next meeting meet-ing will be at the home of Mrs. Smith. A delicious salad course was served, and the rest of the evening eve-ning was spent playing bridge. Mrs. Mildred Coon, Mrs. Roma Cai-lton and Mrs. Frank Sullivan Sulli-van Sr. of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Barbara McGinn and Mrs. Phyllis Phyl-lis Erickson were awarded the prizes. Other members present were Mrs. Kate McDonald, Mrs. Wanda Holm, Mrs. Ethel Smith, Mrs. Margaret Lund, Mrs. Florence Flor-ence Barnes, Mrs. Virginia Fowles, Mrs. Freda Smith, Mrs. Esther Blake, Mrs. Patricia Baker and Mrs. Marvel Connell. Hostesses were Mrs. Eva Banks, Mrs. Katherine Shingleton, Mrs. Garnet Garfield and Mrs. Dave Erickson. |
