Show DANIEL JAMES, FRISCO PIONEER, DIES IN SALT LAKE Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, from the Milford Ward L D S Chapel, for Daniel B. James, 78, who died at 6:45 p. m. Saturday in a Salt Lake hospital of causes incident to age. Bishop George C Goodwin conducted the following program: pro-gram: Ope ning prayer, Rudolph Nielsen. Vocal solo, "Oh My Father," Dan Ferguson. Remarks, Re-marks, Bishop Goodwin. Vocal trio, "Going Home," Gael Elmer' Vance Fisher and Bud Zabris-kie. Zabris-kie. Talk, Carlyle Gronning. Vocal solo, "In the Garden of Tomorrow," Gael Elmer. Closing Clos-ing prayer, McCoy Williams. Rudolph Nielsen dedicated the grave in the Milford Cemetery. Ceme-tery. Daniel B. James was born December 28, 1870, in California, Califor-nia, a son of Thomas and Ann Phillips James. The family moved to Frisco when he was a child. April 26th, 1901, Mr. James married Belle Sherwood of Levan, in a ceremony performed at Frisco. During his early life he rode the range near Frisco, operated a hotel, and later a livery stable, driving townsfolk and travelers wherever they wished to go, winter or summer. He learned the butcher trade from his father, and followed this avocation when he came to Milford about 35 years ago. Mr. James had a fine voice, and was in demand as a member of a trio and as an individual vocalists for many public functions func-tions in Fr.'seo and Milford. He had retired from active business endeavors many years ago. From out of town to attend the funeral services were Mr. George Sherwood of Pocatello, Idaho; Mr. and Mrs. Allen Hedge.!, Mr. and Mrs. William D. Smith, Gerald and Susan Smith, and Mrs. Leona Smith, all of Salt Lake; Mr. and Mrs. James Sherwood; Mrs. J. D. Shepherd of Levan; Mr and Mrs. Merrill Miller and Mr. Hampton Burke of Black Rock; M.tt.. Mary Whiting and M'r. and Mrs. Alton Bosh of Caliente. Survivors include his widow, Belle Sherwood James; one son and two daughters, Thomas W. James and Mrs. Wanda Holm of Milford, and Mrs. Leona Smith of Salt Lake City; nine grandchildren, grand-children, three great-grandchildren, three brothers and one sister: Ernest James of Salt Lake City, A. L. James of Milford, Mil-ford, A. G. James of Seal Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Hannah J. Ros-siter Ros-siter of Butte, Mont. |
