Show NEWS NOTES FROM Milford High Kent Myers, Minersville student at Milford High who has a "straight A" average for the four years of high school study, will be valedictorian valedic-torian for the Class of '49 at Commencement exercises to be held at 8 p. m. Thursday, May 19th. Frank Lewis, stu-. dent body president, will be salutatorian; Shirley Smith, essayist, and Sharral Slott, citizenship speaker. The four honor students were named by Principal Nelson Thursday afternoon. Both Junior and Senior Bands are prepared for the "big event" that takes place in Fillmore Saturday. Sat-urday. The new red and white uniforms which were displayed to the public for the first time Wednesday afternoon, will call attention to the Milford contingent contin-gent when they march in the down-town parade events at 4:20 for the juniors, and 4:50 for the seniors. All contestants must be reg istered in the Fillmore high school by 9 a. m. The Orchestra and Junior Band goes on exhibition at 2. vith sight reading scheduled for 2:30. The Journalism Class has scheduled a sight-seeing tour ot Salt Lake City, sponsored by the Tribune-Telegram, the early part of May. Miss Tarr was a visitor in Salt Lake last week-end, and attended the Shriners' Sunrise services. Mrs. Holm was a "dreamful shopper" in Salt Lake last Saturday. Sat-urday. The Senior Hop is scheduled for Friday, April 29. Everyone is invited to attend the affair. The music department of B A C presented a lively program pro-gram for the student body and members of the faculty last week. We could stand more of the same. Meeting the stiffest kind of competition at the track meet at B A C last week, including some real thin-clad stars from out of state schools, the Milford track boys didn't do so bad, and came home with a few ribbons and a lot of valuable experience. Clyde Turner surprised the up-staters when he finished second sec-ond in a very fast 100-yard dash in the Junior Hi division. Clyde was tromping on the heels of the winner all the way. The relay team of Clyde, Francis Scott, Paul Rhodes and Bob Crane finished fifth in the 440-relay. Dick Bracken and Bobbie Wright failed to place in the 440. The entire team is pointing for the regional meet at Paro-wan, Paro-wan, May 7th, and promise a few surprises for track fans who remember that last year our only "place" in the regional meet was by Nate Smith, who finished fourth in the javelin. |
