Show FUN, FARCE AND GOOD BASKETBALL 1 SLATED FOR TONIGHT AT HIGH SCHOOL The choicest basketball fare of the BUS season will be dished up for the Mil ford fans tonight (Thursday) when their three favorite teams and a brand new, untried ajrinvyation of casaba artists, clash on the hardwood floor at the llinh School (iym. Billed as the feature attraction, but likely to be relegated to anti-climax status if hilarity and enjoyment is the yardstick, will be the long-awaited contest between the American Legion District 7 Champs and the always-popular, always scrapping, Milford High School Tigers. With the Legionnaires slowed down by inactivity after the district tournament, and the Tigers exuberant and filled with confidence after soundly drubbing drub-bing Hinckley in the final league contest, '.'anything can happen and probably will." In the 7 o'clock curtain-raiser, a team billed as " Batch's llas-Beens," most of them fat and over-fortiesli, will tangle with "Professor. Long's Xever-W'ases." This contest is certain to provide more laughs than the' Xegro (ihnsts, and . a reasonable amount of half-way-decent basketball, since both conglomerations list former basketball basket-ball stars among their rosters. Proceeds from the gate will be equally divided between be-tween the Milford Parent-Teacher Association and the American Legion scoreboard fund. When ihe Tigers met Hinckley Hinck-ley in the final league game, last Friday, the early-comers had a preview - of Ihings to come when the B-squads met. in the preliminary. The local lads ran up a whale of a score, with just about every player hilling the hoop at will. Then when ihe main squad went to work, it looked like it might be a marathon. Nate Smith tallied 12 counters and Root 2, as they deliberately passed up set-ups time after time to feed the ball to Juniors Jun-iors who would be playing another an-other year. The Myers boys both played bang-up basketball, with Kent topping the scoring with 16 tallies, tal-lies, and Ted right on his heels with a husky 14 points. Saun Bohn, who started the season as Ray Pearce of Beaver set the scoring pace in Region 6, j racking up 115 points for an I average of 14.4 points in each ! contest. Nate Smith, ace Tiger ! forward, was runner-up with ; 83 points. Root, who had a dull season at hitting the hoop, placed fifth in the standings with 59 points for the season. Kent Myers, Milford center, gained fifth place in scoring for centers, with 35 points, and Ted Myers also garnered a listing, racking up 4B points to take sec-, ond place in district scoring for j guards. ' a second-stringer- and earned a starting berth with his aggressive aggres-sive play, turned in a thrilling performance at guard. Wood, Turner, Hollingshead, Albercht, Crane and Coon also saw action, and gave promise of a contending contend-ing team in '49. The box score: I Hinckley G.
